Medical Peels

A chemical peel or chemical exfoliation is a topic therapeutic technique with more than 100 years of history and still very much in use today. It consists in the application of an irritant or caustic chemical agent on the skin to remove the epidermis and variable parts of the dermis. These layers are later replaced by others with better cosmetic qualities. As a consequence, the skin will be rejuvenated and pre-existing lesions such as dark spots, solar keratoses, wrinkles and scars will disappear.

Light Chemical Peel

A light (superficial) chemical peel removes the outer skin layer of skin (epidermis). It can be used to treat fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone and dryness. You might have a light chemical peel every two to five weeks, depending on the desired results.

Medium Chemical Peel

This type of peel removes skin cells from the epidermis and from portions of the upper part of the middle layer of skin (dermis). A medium chemical peel is used to treat wrinkles, acne scars and uneven skin tone. You might need to repeat the procedure after three to nine months to maintain the desired result.

Deep Chemical Peel

A deep chemical peel removes skin cells from the epidermis and from portions of the mid to lower dermis. . Your doctor might recommend one for deeper wrinkles, scars or precancerous growths. A deep chemical peel can only be performed once.
